What it is
Vegliaterra is a field tool for participatory environmental monitoring. You draw the boundary of a place on a map, walk it, and photograph what you find — waste, a tree, a sighting, something that caught your eye. The app records where and when, on its own. Come back months later and it guides you to re-photograph the same spot from the same angle, giving you an automatic before-and-after.
It is built for one person keeping watch over a place they care about, and equally for an association, a group of volunteers or a school running monitoring days and needing results they can hand to a funder or the press.
How it works
Set up an Outpost. Tap the map to draw the perimeter of the place you want to watch over, and name it.
Start an Outing. Enter the date, the organising association (if any) and how many field observers are taking part.
Walk the Outpost. The map starts under a fog that lifts only where your phone's real GPS says you have actually been — it cannot be faked from a desk. The route also gives you the distance walked.
Record Traces. Take a photo (mandatory, taken live with the camera — never picked from the gallery), choose a type, add an optional note. Coordinates and timestamp are added automatically.
Return to the same spot. A compass panel guides you to frame the photo like last time; the new Trace links to the old one for a before/after comparison.
Close the Outing and generate a Certificate. Numbers, comparison with the previous Outing, a ready-written summary paragraph, before/after photo pairs — ready to share.
What you get
Fog that lifts as you walk
Proof of real presence: the map is revealed only where the device's GPS has been.
Before & after, automatically
Return to a photographed spot and the new Trace links to the old one. A compass helps you match the framing.
Time Mosaic
For any spot photographed several times, a grid of every photo from oldest to newest, each with its date — the whole story of a place at a glance.

Two voices for the report
The Certificate's summary is written in an Institutional tone (neutral, for grant reporting) or a Witness tone (direct, for press and social). Same data, same numbers — only the language changes.
Ready to share
Export a Word document, a standalone web page that opens offline, or a square postcard image for each Trace — with a suggested email ready to send.
State of each Outpost
Calculated from your data, never typed in by hand: never monitored, monitored once, under watch, improving, worsening.
Move data between phones
Export a data package and import it on another device — several observers can start from the same perimeter, and an organiser can gather everyone's data at the end of the day. Merging never overwrites what is already there.
9 languages
Italian, English, French, Spanish, Hindi, Portuguese, German, Chinese and Arabic — all built in, no download.
Proof you can check
Every Trace carries the seal of the one recorded just before it. If someone changes a Trace after the fact, the seal breaks — and it shows. Whoever receives your Certificate — a funder, a newsroom — does not have to take your word for it: they can check the data themselves with a free tool anyone can run on their own.
To be honest about the limits: this proves that an exported file has not been altered since it was exported. It cannot prove that what was recorded in the field was true in the first place.
Your data stays yours
No server, no account, no advertising, no analytics. Everything you record stays on the device that recorded it and works fully offline. The only thing that touches the network is the download of map tiles. Read the full Privacy Policy.
What it deliberately does not do
No leaderboards, no points or levels, no motivational push notifications. For the people this is built for, rigour matters more than gamification.
Before you buy — check map coverage for your area.
Vegliaterra uses OpenStreetMap data (through OpenFreeMap). It is excellent in Europe and in urban areas, but it is not guaranteed to be complete everywhere in the world: rural or remote places may be sparsely mapped or blank. Before purchasing, check openstreetmap.org to see that the place you want to monitor is actually mapped. Map tiles are downloaded online and cached once seen — to work offline in an area, view it once while connected before you head out.

Come funziona
Torna nello stesso punto.
Chiudi l'Uscita e genera l'Attestato.
Prima e dopo, in automatico

9 lingue
Italiano, inglese, francese, spagnolo, hindi, portoghese, tedesco, cinese e arabo — tutte incluse, nessun download.
I tuoi dati restano tuoi
Nessun server, nessun account, nessuna pubblicità, nessuna statistica.
Niente classifiche, punti o livelli, niente notifiche push motivazionali.
